Featured DeFelsko Technologies and Measurement Solutions
Smart Gage Body – Versatile Interchangeable Instrument Platform
One of DeFelsko's most outstanding technological advantages is its PosiTector hardware architecture. With a single gage body, users can easily connect different probes to switch between various measurement applications, including coating thickness, surface roughness, and dew point measurement.
The PosiTector 6000 F1 is specifically designed to measure coating thickness on magnetic metal substrates such as iron and steel. Featuring an IP65-rated enclosure for protection against water and dust, the instrument supports measurement speeds of up to 90 readings per minute in FAST mode, significantly reducing inspection time during industrial coating and plating quality control processes.
Ultrasonic Technology for Coating Thickness Measurement on Non-Metallic Substrates
For surfaces such as wood, concrete, plastic, and composite materials, DeFelsko has developed ultrasonic measurement technology that enables coating thickness determination without damaging or leaving marks on the test surface.
PosiTector 200B3 features an intuitive graphical waveform display and can simultaneously analyze the thickness of up to three individual coating layers in a single measurement operation. This makes it particularly suitable for coating inspection applications involving exported wooden products and automotive components.
Monitoring Environmental Conditions for Coating Applications (ISO 8502-4)
To prevent coating defects such as peeling and pinholing caused by condensation, DeFelsko integrates automatic microclimate sensing technology into its PosiTector DPMD3 (DPM Advanced) series.
Equipped with separate temperature and humidity probes, the instrument automatically calculates the difference between surface temperature and dew point temperature (ΔT). Measurement data is automatically stored and synchronized via Bluetooth/USB with PosiSoft software, enabling engineers to accurately monitor real-time environmental conditions during coating operations at shipyards and structural steel construction sites.
Non-Contact Measurement of Uncured Powder Coatings
In electrostatic powder coating processes, detecting coatings that are too thin or too thick before curing can help reduce material costs and minimize product defects.
The PosiTector PC3 (Powder Checker) uses non-contact ultrasonic sensing technology to measure and instantly display powder coating thickness directly on the production line without touching or deforming the coated surface.
This allows technicians to make immediate adjustments to the spray gun settings before the curing process is completed, helping ensure consistent coating quality and optimize production efficiency.
