Description

This stainless steel rod or 1.5 metres long is designed for the rod-operated use of the Ekman grab in shallow water. It can easily be attached to the Ekman grab. 

The Ekman grab, used with this rod, is intended for use in soft sediment. Two thin hinging flaps are open while the grab is lowered. The spring loaded flaps close when a drop-weight is dropped (cable operated) or a button is pressed (rod operated). Samples can, therefore, also be taken from very soft top layers. The pressure of the sample prevents much loss of material. Nevertheless, note that small stones or stalks may prevent the grab from closing properly.
