Application:
CARBOTEC TR-PT is a highly accurate carbon dioxide sensor for measuring CO2 in beer and beer-based mixed drinks. Dissolved CO2 has a significant impact on product quality and taste.
CARBOTEC TR-PT - CO₂ measurement (pressure-temperature)
The CARBOTEC TR-PT is ideally suited for the continuous measurement of dissolved carbon dioxide in liquids. The instrument is designed for applications requiring maximum sensitivity and the highest accuracy. It is easy to operate and maintain. To measure carbon dioxide, the carbonated liquid flows through the sensor head (measuring chamber). Several times per minute, the chamber closes, and its volume expands abruptly. This expansion creates a gas phase in the chamber. The large partial pressure difference of CO2 forces the carbon dioxide from the sample (liquid in the chamber) into the gas phase. This fundamental scientific principle is described by Henry's Law. Pressure equilibrium is established in the measuring chamber within seconds. This equilibrium pressure depends on the CO2 concentration in the sample. The CO2 concentration is determined by measuring the pressure and temperature in the chamber. Temperature drifts of the measurement signal are automatically compensated by an internal Pt100 sensor. After each measurement, the sample is returned to the product without any loss.
