The spillage test apparatus meets the requirements of IEC60335-2-15 clause 15.2 and figure 101. It’s used to check the connectors with spillage protection to ensure that the connectors are not affected by liquids when installed in a rated voltage base according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
The spillage test is carried out with the appliance deviating from the normal position of use by an angle not exceeding 5°. The kettles are placed on a plane inclined at an angle of 20° to the horizontal and 30ml of water containing approximately 1% NACL is poured onto the top rim in the most unfavourable place. The solution is poured steadily through a tube having an inner diameter of 8mm over a period of 2s, the lower end of the tube being 200mm above the appliance. A further quantity, equal to 15% of the rated capacity of the kettel, is then added as quickly as possible.
